Briefly in English
The association of Finnish ethnologists, Ethnos, was founded in 1972 as an academic
community for all ethnologists either scholarly, or else working in fields
related to ethnology. The aim of the association is to promote ethnologist research
and ethnology as a field of study. The languages of the association are Finnish
and Swedish but there are activities and publications also in English.
Ethnos publishes two peer review journals, the Finnish Ethnos toimite and the English Ethnologia Fennica, and organizes seminars both internationally and locally.
As members Ethnos welcomes people who have an academic degree in ethnology or who work in fields related to ethnology. Also ethnology students are welcomed as members.
